History in a Car

Today, I was at a local flea market. My right to life group had two tables there and we sadly didn't raise much money, but we're planning to have a yard sale soon. Anyway, there was a car show at the flea market today. I love, love, love old cars. They're like a piece of history. A beautiful piece of history.

Since we live in a pretty 'country', 'old-timey' town, a lot of people have (I'm guessing) the cars their grandparents, great-grandparents, ect. use to have. I love to see them in wonderful condition. Even my neighbor, Mr. M, has two vintage cars. A old bug and an old Chevy truck. I don't know the years but they're beautiful.

Today, I nearly died of a full out heart attack of happiness at the car show. I can't decided which is my favorite car. The Bel-Air? The Camaro? The Falcon? I can't decide!

Take YOUR pick:

My mom ADORES this one. It drives by where I work a lot.

Ignore the streak. Something on my computer put it there.

Drool.

One of my favorites! :D

This guy had dice all of his Falcon. Dangling off the mirror, on his tires and on the lock switch.

My dream car--right there. If only it where RED. I would die. I'd just keel over and DIE.

Another of my favorites. :DDD

Star of David! Pretty cool, right?

So, can you tell me which one you liked the best? I still can't. I think I have to go with the Camaro. It is my dream car, after all. Just red.

Cars. Pretty freaking awesome. Agree? You should.

Weather and Spring

Weather. It sets our moods. It sets our day. It's unpredictable, at times. Complicated, yet not. A pain in the butt.

Spring. Rainy. Bright. Crappy.

Spring, sure, it's nice and all but I'm kind of sick of all this life threating weather. I'm going to be all negative and tell you why Winter, Spring and Fall all suck compared to Summer.

Winter:

  • If you let the dog out, you'll lose it in the snow, or it's feet frozen to the ground.
  • Fires start because someone was trying to stay warm. (On a positive note: they were warm when the house was burning to the ground...)
  • Everything is ether white, black or white.

Spring:
  • "Hey, look, the flowers are blooming! They look so pretty! Oop, nevermind. They were just ripped out of the ground (along with my house) by a tornado."
  • Ever had allergies. Yeah, that's the number uno reason.
Fall:
  • "Ahhh, so pretty---OUCH, I just slipped on all these bleeping leaves!"
  • Raking, raking, raking....
  • A sad reminder that winter is coming. And, where I live, it doesn't last long enough.
  • School beings.

Summer:
  • I LOVE YOU SUMMER. YOU MIGHT BE HOT, BUT IT'S WONDERFUL! I LOVE YOU. I LOVE YOU.

So, that is my depressing post. Excuse me while I go hide in a closet so a tornado doesn't come and eat me. :]

All Girls Allowed

All Girls Allowed .

I bet a good portion of the world doesn't know millions of baby girls are aborted everyday because they are worthless. I bet half the world doesn't know that millions of mothers are forced to kill their daughter because they aren't good enough.

Imagine, your gender decides if you get to live or not.
Horrible, right? Glad this doesn't happen in America?

Well, I hate to tell you--but it does.
And guess what? It's not just one gender. Here, in America, if you're any gender or race and you're in the womb--your right to life is gone as soon as conception. Because if your a baby, you have no right. That's what it's come down to.

Hitler killed millions.
Every year we let people kill millions. Millions on innocent children.

I want you to tell me which is worse? One cruel man attacking certain people, a country practically outlawing one gender, or one country sitting back on their butts and allowing our future to be murdered and letting woman everywhere sufferer.

They're all terrible. None worse than the other. But to me, since I'm an American, I can't believe in my own homeland that my life lies in the hands of someone else, who hasn't even really gotten to meet me. Tell me what's next? Will my height, age, color, gender, ect. decide if I get to live even after birth?

That's a scary thought, isn't it.

I hope you realize that too.

Fortune Cookie Wisdom

I'm done, people. I'm done with school. Yes, my friends, I am done with school.
Well, for the most part. I still have a bunch of math to do, but that's okay.

I had two exams today. American Documents and Physical Science. I don't feel great about them but I don't feel bad ether. I hope I got 90 and above, which, not to brag, I usually do (this year). I'm really happy. Really, really, really happy. I felt a little disappointed because after all that stress, cramming, ect. it felt like the finale should end with a big, fat BANG. It didn't really. It ended with a tiny whimper, but I'm thankful that it ended with even the smallest of noises!

I don't know what to do with myself almost. I don't know what it feels like to  NOT have school work to worry or stress about. It's strange, that's for sure.

I realized (and learned) over this semester  that I don't like to ask for help and I don't like failure or not doing as well as someone else. In other words, I want to be on top. Always. This causes me to stress and freak out over school work. It will send me into depression and all this crazy crud I don't need to deal with. It's completely unnecessary and causes me to be snotty and angry.

I think the Lord was trying to talk to me today because one of my fellow students was doing his philosophy presentation on Confucius. Since Confucius sort of (strong on the sort of) had to do with fortune cookies this kid gave out fortune cookies. It was after we had taken the exams, which I surprisingly had been calm about.

This was what mine said:

I don't know, maybe I interrupted it wrong..., but I feel like that was God trying to say good job on keeping a level head. Sort of.

I kind of have trust issues also. And these trust issues make it hard for me to believe people actually like me. Well, I got another fortune cookie afterwards because they're so tasty. I would give you picture of what it said, but I couldn't find it. But it was like God was talking to me again. It said something like, "You're individuality is a light to others." Yeah, yeah, I know. These are fortune cookies. They usually spit out stupid, sappy lines and one of my class mates got the 'genius' one too.  Even though this is true, it meant something to me because they addressed things I struggled with.

I thought I'd share that. God likes to give me little gifts, here and there. God is like a great parent. We all know that. But I forget and things like this remind me that the Lord, the most high God, is my father. Not just my friend. Not my long-lost cousin. Defiantly not a stranger. He's my maker, father, lover, and God. All purpose God. ;]

Thinking about all the gifts God has given me made me want to make a list of things that I appreciate. So, here you go:

  • My amazing, wonderful, God-sent parents.
  • My annoying, mean, but top-of-the-line brothers.
  • My noisy, smelly, and cute pets.
  • The ability to breath. xD
  • The ability to run, since I love to do so.
  • My camera.
  • My huge, world-making imagination.
  • My stupid education. xD (Yes, folks. I'm thankful for my education.)
  • Summer.
  • Dancing.
  • My adorable house.
  • My comfy, loving bed.
  • The chance to blog about me. It's amazing that people will read a blog about me!
  • Books that have pages that smell...,smell like new worlds!
  • Finally, God. The best thing--ever.

Okay, that's not all, but that's a good part of it. Life can be simple but amazing.

Mmm, slap me. I'm sounding very sappy. I guess I can't find it any longer. I'm turning into one of THOSE people. Next thing you know I'll be making nice long post on FB about how I love the color orange and how it inspires me to be so much more and how it makes me think of Philippians....blah, blah, blah. It happens and it's stupid. On a mean note here: People, learn FaceBook is not for sharing you sappy little doo-da's but to stalk people. Duh.

:]

I'll stop that now.

May God bless you ALL!

Photo Challenge: Favorite School Subject

Photo Challenge: Favorite School Subject

My favorite school subject. This year? Okay, American Documents. Well, the only pictures I have of my 'favorite' subject aren't that amazing, but here you go:

What is American Documents? Basically, it's like history. Who doesn't like history? We've read a bunch of the historical documents of our country, speeches made by some pretty important people (haha), and stuff like that. So, I like history, just like everyone else. I thought I would like Philosophy a lot, but it turned out it was one of those 'so-so' classes. It was not amazing, it was not crappy. I think it's because I had my ups and downs in that class. We had our Philosophy exam this past week. I hope I did okay one that. It had a lot to do with our 'opinions', so maybe that might help.

Life has been slow here. Cramming for the last week of school. You don't know how happy I am that it's almost over. I don't mind school, not at all. It's just these last few weeks have been pretty rough. Summer is almost here. HOORAY!

Well, I must head out!
Enjoy!

Cooking: Asian Style!

Yes, I cooked.
You can congratulate me anytime. ;]

I cooked spring rolls with my mom today. Dang, they were good!
I came up with the idea Sunday when my mom and I went to the local 'Food Lion' to get some simple groceries. We were in the vegetable section and I was looking around while my mother was cursing over the poor condition of the lettuce. She does that often, no need to worry. I saw these 'Egg/Spring Roll' wraps along side the tofu and suddenly thought, "Hey! We should make egg rolls! I LOVE EGG ROLLS!" I told my mom that when my brother, Sam, came home from college we should make egg rolls since he's Mr. Asian. (He spent a summer in China and has learned to speak Chinese. Just a few days ago he learned how to make dumplings in his Chinese class.)

My mom agreed that was a good idea and then said, "Why don't we make some now?" Brilliant mother I have, brilliant. There was a recipe on the back of the wrap packaging and we followed that. And guess what, NO ONE HAD BEAN SPROUTS. No one. Do you know how DEVASTATING that is?!?! I love bean sprouts. This is when a Fresh Market, Whole Foods, Earth Fare or Farmer's Market near by would be amazing!

Anyway, we had to wait till today to make it. We didn't have all the ingredients but we did with out and substituted. We mixed carrots, cabbage, mushrooms, ginger and soy sauce together on the stove.

Then, we filled the wraps and folded them up.

We then spread olive oil over them.

I'm not sure what happened to this photo on my computer...

Next, we put them in the oven for about 10 to 12 minutes. Pulled them out and...viola! Amazing, tasty spring rolls! :D

If you want the whole recipe e-mail me! (mythoughtsinone@gmail.com) I'll be glad to give it to you from the back of the box. xD

With Much Tasty Love,
Lia.
