*insert an insane amount of girly screaming*

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
I DID IT! I DID IT!

I was moved up! :D My dance teacher JUST called and told me that I moved up to the next class. And guess what! She said I was the only one.

I think that's a good thing, right?

AHHHHH! I'm very, very happy. I hope I can do as well as I did at the try outs this year. I start tonight, even if it is late notice. Yayayayayay! I'll be doing the same old jazz, ballet and hip-hop this year. But in a different class. With girls my height. Holy freakin' crap. YAY!

Okay, I'll stop rambling. I'm just happy. I guess this means I should actually take a shower...oh, snap. xD

Dance Tryouts (A Really Short Recap)

Well, dance try outs were Tuesday. Needless to say, I'm sore. Very sore.

Two ladies from some place (I'm so smart. Don't be jealous.) came by the studio to do the try outs. They were sisters and thank-da-LORD they weren't really intimidating. They were actually very, very nice. We stretched until they got there. Mrs. C passed out our numbers and lucky me got my favorite number, 6! The first thing we did was Ballet, which was lead by the calmer, more...ballet-like sister. It was funny how the types of dances they taught fit their personalities.

We did barre (bar) work for a little while. Then she had us do some pretty combinations across the floor. If I remember correctly, it was balance, balance, two shanay turns, arabesque forward (arms in third, I think), back, and then sashay, step, something-or-other jete, then do it one more time.

I'm so sure you wanted to know that.

Anyway, I was confident with everything except my balances. I would get confused while doing them. Maybe I was putting too much thought into them, I don't know. I also had trouble with my arms in the balances. They were suppose to to go to high third and then low third, but I ended up looking like I was waving down a cab in some eccentric manner.

After that, we did  this combination with just our legs. We did a lot of leg lifting. Ouch. I still feel that one. We then left that to do a bunch of jumping. Double ouch. We had to go through all the positions of the feet, jumping (I'm not sure what else to call it. xD) four times in each, landing in a plie, of course. Then we went through jumping twice in every position, then once. We were to make no noise while landing. I failed. Terribly. I think I sounded like bricks hitting the floor. I was terribly sore after that.

We were allowed a stretching break, then went right back into it. We did another ballet combination, which I liked. It was really pretty to watch the girls who can actually dance do it.

Another break was given after the final ballet combination and then we headed into Jazz. Jazz. Was. Fun.

We danced to 'The Way You Make Me Feel' by Michael Jackson. I actually really, really like it. I won't describe the whole routine we learned to the song, but it was a blast. Sure, I messed up about every other step, but I kept on going and putting everything into it. I actually had a small attitude, which I usually don't convey for my dancing, only for my mother. ;]

After much sweating, getting frustrated, laughing, telling Haley that she wouldn't die, and dancing hard, it was over. I headed over to my friends house to spend the night and shove candy into my mouth and watch Tangled.

Anddddd I'm still sore. I've been stretching to help it out and in-between school subjects, dancing. I want to become a great dancer. I really do. So, maybe I'll actually work hard and try and become one. Crazy idea, huh? :]

Thirteen Five Year Olds For Five Hours

Saturday I helped out at a friends Aunt's VBS. My friend, Hannah, and I were in charge of the five to six year old group, which was suppose to be the smallest. Suppose.

We ended up with the largest group of them all. Thirteen of them. Yes, you read that right. Thirteen hyper little boys and girls. It's like they multiplied every second. As more and more came, Hannah and I began to exchange looks.

Wait, I thought we only had about...four?

Well, it turned out that there was a mistake. The people who put it together weren't thinking about the kids ages changing, so they figured the groups would basically be the same as the year before. It's a mistake that I would have made.

Anyway, so the amount of kids they thought were going to be in the four year old group ended being in our five year old group. Lucky for us, Hannah and I have some awesome skills (or God really loves me) and we did a pretty good job. All the adults told us we did an amazing job.

But, by the end of the day, I decided I didn't like being a VBS group leader. Well, I did like being able to boss people around. That's fun. But other than that, no, I don't like it.

I was glad to help though. Everyone there was really nice and was fed, which is the way to my heart. (If you give me tasty food I will love you forever.)

Yesterday, I spent the whole day with the Street family. They're beyond amazing. I went to my old church, which I miss too much for words to express. It's full of some of the best people in the whole wide world, including the Street family.

Before school starts I have to read Beowulf. Well, actually my mom is reading it with me to make sure I understand what's going on, but so far I've been doing just fine. It's really not that hard. Famous last words. Hahaa!

I'm slowly becoming nervous about school. I really don't want to stress this year, but I'm worried I will. Kind of...ironic, right? Prayers would be welcomed x400. Last year, my 2nd semester was cruel because I was learning how to handle school, work and dance, which wasn't going to well. Each day was another steep mountain to climb, but I got through it.  I prevailed and this year I will do the same.

Right? Gulp.

I have a few notable upcoming events I might have told you about.

1. I have dance tryouts August 9th, or around there. Prayer would be awesome, again! I hope my back and dancing gets a little better before then. I really need to practice more, but I don't want to strain my back at the same time. Life. So complicated. ;]

2. School starts back August 16th. I kind of don't want it to. I kind of do. Once again, life is complicated.

3. My Students for Life group and another Students for Life group will be hosting a Pro-Life retreat. It should be fun and full of tasty, tasty food. I don't know why I'm excited about it...

4. Regular dance starts back. YAY! It's not like I haven't been dancing all summer, but I get to add on some more classes and hopefully have moved to a new class. I really, really, REALLLLLLLLLY, want to improve my dancing this year. I haven't progressed much since I started and I not only want to but need to if I want to actually move on up. Haha, prayer. It's nice. You should pray for me. :]

Yeah, that's all I think of right now, but I have a pretty busy schedule. Birthdays, work, dance, church, SFL, school...it's not easy, but it's a challenge.

Okay, I'll stop talking and wish you an awesome day!

The Lonely...

The Lonely by Christina Perri has become my new favorite song for the week/month.

It makes me want to dance. It's pretty, simple and just plain out awesome. I'm really considering it for my dance solo, even if I already know some one dancing to a Christina Perri song! Tell me what you think about it.

If you hate it...uh, go do something...else.

xD

Anyway, sorry about the bad blogging. I've just been sitting on my butt doing nothing like I'm good at. Don't worry! I have been exercising. A lot. Mostly dancing. Speaking of dancing, I watched Center Stage today. I hated it. No, let me correct that. I hate the story plot and acting. I adored the dancing. It was so pretty. I nearly drooled over one scene, at the end, where one of my favorite actresses, Zoe Saldana, who actually took ballet if I'm right, is dancing. So. Freakin'. Beautiful.

Here is some of the dancing. Skip to around 6:00 on the video. The rest is just useless. xD

Well, I hope you enjoyed!
Thanks for reading!

I'm Alive!

Wow.
I have been a terrible, terrible blogger, haven't I?
To tell you the truth...,it's because I've been too lazy to make a blog post (Well, my computer was messing up but I was mainly just too lazy.) My recital was Sunday and even then I didn't make a blog post. I guess I should make one then, shouldn't I?

(I've been slow on my photography lately too, so no pictures on this post.)

Now, my recital.
My recital was good. Nothing amazing, nothing terrible. It was just a long, fun experience I had six dances this year, which is double last years. Two were hip hop, two more were jazz, one was ballet and (deep breath) one was a solo. Yes, 'fraidy cat, Lia Day, actually got up on a stage and danced by herself.

I even danced when the song kept on going and I finished the choreographed routine to the song. I didn't freak out, surprisingly. Actually, everything went fuzzy and I don't even know what I did. I guess I just danced (insert Lady Gaga song..."just dance, dance, everything is gonna be okay, ..."). It wasn't till today that I saw what I did in that seemingly long, but actually short, period of time. It didn't look great, but at least I didn't sit there and freak out, right?

I did freak out when I arrived at the high school where our recital is held and found out I not only left my 'crazy' socks for hip hop, but my hip hop bottoms, which are very important. I highly doubt anyone would like to see me in only my tights. 0.0 Freaky thought right there. Luckily, my mom (even though she was ticked. I LOVE YOU MOMMY!) drove back, tore through my stuff, and retrieved them for me. She was able to do all this before my first dance. She's got super mommy skills.

Other than that there we no other 'mishaps'.There where, however, other crappy things--like our ballet costumes. I have three words for you: Barbie Fairy Princess.
I felt like I should be in some Barbie movie! Not only were we dressed in sparkley, pink, itchy costumes, we had crowns and frilly little chokers (that equally itched). Let's just say every girl in that dance couldn't wait to get the dance done and over with. It was beyond itchy, just so you know. It even caused one girl to get a small rash.

I won't bore you with many details, so I'll stop there. I gave you the good, juicy stuff (if you can call it that.).

So, my recital was itchy, good and very, very long (around five hours. Thank you, everyone who came.) My brother Aaron basically drew a comic book in that time. I wish I had gotten to read it...

Now that I have bored you with recital stories I'll move on to my HUGE dilemma. It's big. I mean BIG. It's life changing almost. What's the problem?

I. Don't. Know. What. To. Do. For. My. Sixteenth. Birthday.

Okay, it's not huge really, but I just realized my birthday isn't too far away. In fact, it's almost a month away. And...it's my sixteenth. It's the big 1-6. Am I not suppose to do something awesome? Well, I have no clue what to do. I'm just sitting here freaking out.

I'm almost sixteen. I'm heading into the 11th grade. College is getting oh-so close.
I'M GETTING OLDER.

I know, I know, profound discovery but...I feel like I should still be seven, you know? Because seven is the best age. I miss it. But I won't live in the past! No, I'll look forward to the future! Eek, the future looks a little scary. Why? BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT IT!!!

Remember? I told you I'm a very, very nosy person. Well, it kills me not knowing, but I almost don't want to know. You get what I mean? Yeah, I'm confusing myself. I should probably stop this rambling now.

If you have any 16th B-Day ideas for me send me a message ( mythoughtsinone@gmail.com) or leave a comment! I'll back into the blog swing, I promise. I have a nice long to-do list and it's bugging the crap out of me. I'm trying to get the writing part of it done now. Let's hope it works!

Suspense

THE SUSPENSE IS KILLING ME.

Haha, I bet the suspense is really killing you guys because I neglected to tell you how my dance competition went till 8 at night. So, to keep you in 'suspense' I'm going to tell you why I'm dying of suspense.

Inception.

The movie Inception , which I thought was going to be mildly exciting, since I knew barely anything about the plot except it had to deal with dreams, has become one of my favorite movies ever. And that can be hard to do on the first try. Movies I really like include: The Pursuit of Happyness, as you know, Temple Grandin, POC1, 2 and 3, To Save A Life, Bend it Like Beckham [don't ask, just don't], Tron, The Bourne Series, and now--Inception.

The plot is gripping, the suspense is dangerous and the end just wanted to make...well, I won't tell you.
Hate me yet?

I really adored that movie and I'll have to watch it again after the high that the movie left me in wears off. I suggest you see it if you haven't already. I enjoyed it, a lot!

Now to the dance competition. Well, there's not much to say, actually. I've had this strange feeling all day since the competition. I feel..., I don't know the word, unfulfilled. With what? I don't know. I guess all the stress over it building up for the past few days for others and for me seemed to make the whole thing bigger than it actually was. I got on stage, danced, messed up a few times, had my triumphs and then...it was over.

That sounded depressing when it's not! I just felt weird afterwards because everything seem to happen slowly, then speed up, then next thing you know it's over. And I don't even know if my dance studio, which, like the others, had several other dances in there, won anything. The thing just ended about a hour ago and I left about seven hours ago.

After THAT little bit there, I'll tell you what it was like. If you have ever been to dance competition then, of course, you know what it's like. For me I felt like I was about to drown in dance. Yes, drown in dance. It would be a happy death, thank you very much. Dancers were everywhere. So many different and exciting costumes. Bright and dark, funky and elegant, cool and plain out what-the-crap-were-you-thinking? Everywhere.

I'm sure our costumes almost hurt people eyes, but they were cute. The out fit had a tight torso, like most dance outfits, and it flared out at the waist down to a little above mid-thigh. The base of the outfit was bright pink, then it has this whole squiggly, faded bright color design on it. It's really hard to describe. Anyway, the material was super shiny so it made everything look brighter and stand out more. Around you belly-button was a sewed on turquoise sash with a fake diamond circle on it that I played with constantly because it could slid up and down the sash.  There was a turquoise ribbon to go with it that matched the color of the leotard under it. We wore our hair in low ponytails with the ribbons tied in them.

I ran into a girl who was in my 5th or 6th grade class. I can't remember. It was kind of cool to see her there. My mom said she did really good and was very graceful. Kudos! xD

I can't say how I felt on stage. It's kind of a blur. Mostly, I remember all the times I screwed up, which isn't good, is it? I do remember one part, when I had to do this paddle turn, then sashay [I'm not sure how you spell that, spell check isn't helping much here.] and paddle turn again. That is so clear in my mind for some reason. And when we had to do this box step, that I forget every time till the night before the competition, and when we were walking off stage. I was highly agitated with myself for missing certain steps. It drove me crazy.  It still does. Argh!

My mother also said I did really good, although when I got of stage I was ticked with myself. When I look back, over the hours [haha], I realize it was a fun time anyway!

Yeah, I cut this whole post short because I have to go to bed soon. Another long day ahead!

I LOVE DANCING.
Just thought I'd tell you. :D

A New Adventure!

Well, folks, this is it.
A huge step for Lia-kind and a small step for other dancers.

It's my first dance competition tomorrow.

HA! I was able to make that sound totally dramatic and amazing. Well, yes, it's exciting for me, in a sense, but I'm only doing one dance, in the very beginning and then I leave. Yep, I'm excited about going on stage for about three minutes then leaving. Why, yes, I'm easily pleased. :]

No, seriously--I'm pretty dang excited. I'm not nervous though...yet.

One of the girls, who is a totally amazing dancer and I envy, is having terrible knee troubles. Pray for her if you will!

Tomorrow I will let you know if I was a total screw up, semi-screw up or amazing. [I think I can guess one I will be...AMAZING. Haha, no, just kidding.] We'll be doing a jazz routine to the song Abracadabra by the Steve Miller Band. Exciting, right? I'll post pictures of our outfit soon. :D

I hope life is all laughs and giggles for you guys!
:D
Lia

P.S
On a dramatic and depressing note--do pray that, urm, my self-confidence will inch up a few knots before, I don't know, say...tomorrow? Thank you, dearly. :]
